How to find your Google Pay UPI ID
- Open Google Pay and tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Choose Bank accounts and tap the account you want to be paid into.
- The UPI IDs for that account are listed there. Copy one and paste it into the tool above.
Google Pay often creates several UPI IDs for one account across different sponsor banks. Any of them will receive money into the same place.
Why Google Pay handles start with “ok”
The ok prefix identifies Google Pay to the sponsoring bank in UPI’s
routing layer. The bank named after it is the sponsor bank that issued the
handle — not necessarily the bank holding your money.
@okhdfcbank,@okhdfc— HDFC Bank@okaxis— Axis Bank@okicici— ICICI Bank@oksbi— State Bank of India
So an @okaxis UPI ID can perfectly well be linked to a Kotak savings
account. This surprises people, and it is the single most common source of confusion about
UPI handles. Full handle directory →
Things worth knowing
The QR is not app-specific
Nothing in the QR ties it to Google Pay. It encodes an NPCI-standard
upi://pay URL that any UPI app can read.
Leave the name blank
Google Pay displays the verified name on the bank account regardless. Setting a different name in the QR only risks a mismatch warning.
GPay is more permissive on bank QRs
Unlike PhonePe and Paytm, Google Pay usually accepts account-plus-IFSC QR codes, sometimes after an extra confirmation. Do not rely on it if your payers use other apps.
Fixed amounts work fine
Enter an amount and Google Pay opens with it pre-filled. Fixed-amount QR codes →
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the Google Pay app to use this?
No. You need a UPI ID, which you may have got through Google Pay. The QR is generated in your browser and paid by whichever app the payer uses.
Is there a fee for receiving money?
No. UPI transfers between individuals carry no MDR, and settlement is instant and bank-to-bank. UPIPE takes nothing.
Can I get a QR code for my business with my shop name on it?
Not from a generator — that requires verified merchant status. Google Pay for Business, or a PSP such as Razorpay, issues those.
